Kaleidoscope is thrilled to present a unique night of minimal and techno music, played exclusively on vinyl (as per usual). The artists: ADA KALEH (R&S, Ada Kaleh Romania | Bucharest, Romania) Ada Kaleh is a prominent figure in Romania’s avant-garde minimal house and techno scene. His unique ability to blend introspective sounds with pulsating dancefloor rhythms creates an emotionally resonant experience for listeners. In his productions, Ada Kaleh skillfully crafts a sound that manages to be both meditative and uplifting. His releases and DJ sets truly blur the lines between minimalistic house, techno, and ambient music, providing a rich environment that invites exploration and movement. Ada Kaleh’s music has been supported by a diverse and acclaimed musicians, including: Ricardo Villalobos, Thomas Melchior, ARPIAR (Rhadoo, Petre Inspirescu, Raresh), Fumyia Tanaka, Zip, Leftfield, Orbital, Aphex Twin, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Gilles Peterson, Laurent Garnier, Sven Vath and many others. MARIVS (Resource, Blast) Transylvanian-born Marivs stands as a pillar of Toronto's underground techno scene. A purist and seasoned selector, he founded Kaleidoscope, a vinyl-only event series that champions authentic underground techno. His journey began in the early 90s, spinning various electronic formats at Romanian radio stations before securing club residencies that honed his crowd-reading abilities. Since relocating to Toronto in 2013, his productions have garnered support from techno luminaries such as Nicole Moudaber and Freddy K, with releases on respected labels including Resource Records and Blast. Behind the decks, Marivs delivers dark, driving sets that remain delicately balanced, each telling its own unique story. COTTONMOUTHKILLAH (All Blak) Another hidden gem of Toronto, Cottonmouthkillah is a DJ & producer who possesses an innately mature taste in deep house and minimal techno. He releases on All Blak records, with a 2nd EP slated for later this year, and also performs monthly on Deep Transmission Radio. PEPE CALLES Originally from Veracruz, Mexico, Pepe Calles is a vinyl selector who is making waves here in Toronto. With influences coming from the urban sounds of hip hop and the Chicago and Detroit house scenes, Pepe began spinning in 2018 with a natural talent behind the decks. His humble attitude allows space for his technique to continue to be polished, day by day.
