Born in Mondim de Basto and shaped by the underground pulse of Porto, his work is rooted in a deep sensitivity to rhythm, movement, and sonic detail. With roots in Jungle and Drum & Bass, his sound gradually opened into a more fluid and immersive approach to techno, where tension and flow take precedence over formula. His sets are constructed with intention, unfolding as continuous journeys driven by low-end pressure, texture, and subtle transformation. His productions have landed on labels such as Counterchange, Nechto, Contempo Music, and Mutual Rytm, marking a steady presence across different strands of contemporary electronic music. In 2025, he founded Crulight Records, a personal outlet for his own releases and ongoing sonic direction. Alongside his work as an artist, he is the founder of Vinculum Festival, a mountain-based gathering that has been growing steadily, building its identity through a carefully curated approach and a strong sense of context. Rather than adhering to fixed definitions, Backbone’s approach moves between instinct and precision, shaping experiences that resonate beyond the dancefloor and extend into something more lasting and personal.
