Japanese loud/heavy experimental trio Boris have been making an eclectic racket since the early 1990s. Named after a song by American sludge-metal trio the Melvins, Boris carry on that band's proud tradition of crafting intelligent, slow-motion sonic slugfests. And like the Melvins, Boris also have a pronounced experimental streak that never keeps them in one place for too long. They have collaborated with power-noise artists Merzbow and drone-doom mayvens Sun O))), and have indulged in some decidedly mellow classic rockisms with Japanese guitar legend Michio Kurihara. The highly prolific band released dozens of albums, and continued to record and tour into the 21st century.
