Since their birth on the Napolitan island of Ischia, PROLETAR was always fated to be a nomad. The child of Romanian immigrants, they did not spend long in their birthplace before moving to Bucharest. Both their tracks and their performances present themselves with uncompromising intensity. PROLETAR's first contact with live music was through punk shows in Bucharest's DIY underground, and their introduction to raves was in the Romanian DnB underground as an event photographer. This connection is evident in their art. PROLETAR's approach to music is cathartic, with tracks that present an imposing heaviness that seeks not to celebrate negativity but to embrace the contrast of life--without dark, there can be no light. They've played everywhere from barren forests to brutalist warehouses and even an abandoned airport, from Miami to Berlin to Bucharest, solidifying the artist as one of the hottest newcomers in techno both in the US and Europe. They've shared line ups with the likes of Cera Khin, Otta, Henry Brooks, and many others.
