Something is pulling up to the pump... It's Book Club Radio Meeting #37: Florida Gas. The third and final chapter of our Florida trilogy. Two years ago, Florida Man wandered out of a cypress swamp and into our Brooklyn backyard. Last year, Florida Woman pulled up in her best bikini and refused to go home til the streetlights came on. And now, to close out the greatest outdoor summer party series in Book Club Radio history, we are going to a Florida gas station on the most Florida gas station day of the year: July 11th. 7/11. The universe is not subtle. If you have never been to a Florida gas station, let me paint a picture. I once pulled up for gas and the entire Winn Dixie staff was hosting a bikini car wash in the parking lot. A man walked up to me at the pump, very calm, very polite, and asked if I would like to sleep with his wife. This is what a Florida a gas station is like. We will be taking over a backyard in Brooklyn, rain or shine. Daytime to sundown. All three years of this party have been some of our absolute favorites: incredible music, unforgettable outfits, the best kind of crowd. And of course you have to come dressed for the gas station. No phones allowed on the dance floor. 6. Dress to express yourself. 7. Dance your heart out. If you are bringing someone new, make sure they have read the above before they pull in. We have a code.
